Hobbs Freshman Academy  |  Hobbs, New Mexico

A new self-contained facility on the Hobbs High School campus was designed to insulate ninth graders from older students and create a smaller, more manageable learning community for students as they transition into high school. The new academy features classrooms, science labs, an art studio, a technology lab with wind tunnel and film studio, a food lab, computer labs, a gymnasium, and administrative offices. An enclosed central courtyard provides space for students to socialize outside as well as space for project-based learning and outdoor events. The project also included a new central kitchen that prepares approximately 8,000 meals per day for schools throughout the district as well as a new cafeteria that serves the entire Hobbs High School campus.
