San Juan College Health Sciences Center | Farmington, New Mexico
This state-of-the-art training facility for students in the College’s health sciences programs was designed to simulate a real-life hospital/clinic environment. Construction was completed over three phases, in order to accommodate available funding.
Phase I —The new 13,500 square foot Health Sciences Center provides hands-on training for students enrolled in the College’s emergency medical technician, medical laboratory technician, and surgical technician programs. The Center features a surgical suite with sterilization, scrub and operating rooms, as well as a state-of-the-art medical lab. Interactive mannequins provide computer simulations of medical cases, allowing students to gain experience in life-like settings.
Phase II — The 15,000 square foot addition houses two labs, classroom and administrative area for the Physical Therapist Assistant program, classroom and lab for Respiratory Therapy, as well as an office suite for the Emergency Medical Services program. These state-of-the-art learning environments allow students to learn skills in realistic scenarios.
Phase III – This 2,700 square foot addition included a microbiology lab and preparation area, biohazards storage, three faculty offices and paving for an adjacent parking lot accommodating 250 cars.
